Inspiration at Clapham South

tractionism:

Over the last week or so in Australia a boy with dark skin was threatened with beheading, a woman had her head smashed against a wall and was thrown off a train, mosques and cars have been vandalised, people are being abused in the street and social media is littered with hate speech and vile comments. Kind of interesting considering most of these people justify their attacks by linking Islam to terrorism and proclaiming it’s a hateful religion from violent countries.

i made this shitty embroidery the other day when i was sitting outside in the rain having a panic attack. i don’t really know what i meant but i know it’s true. right now my life feels a bit like the wrong side of the embroidery and nothing quite makes sense.

How lovely is it to have a girl, who doesn’t even let you stand without loving you. You feel it you know, when someone is addicted to you?

A little prayer for the strugglers (I’m with you):

The Prophet (sa) would say every morning and evening, “Allah, I seek solace in you from hamm and hazn.”

Hamm means things we’ve experienced in the past that sadden and worry us. Hazin are things in the future that scare us and sadden us. Allah is al-Qadīr and al-Rahīm.

May Allah lift the hamm and hazin from us, relieve our burdens and grant us the faith to soar above dark times. Stay strong and know that there are others going through what you are going through, even Imams and activists. You are not alone!

With faith, worship and community, you can do it - with God’s help, you got this. “Indeed, Allah’s help is (constantly) close.”

Even though I don’t know you, consider my prayers as a crutch with you at every tear and sad feeling. My prayers are not strong - I’m in need of yours more. But everyone holding on to their faith amongst the rocky seas of life, I love you for the sake of Allah and I’m happy to share in the struggle with you. Have a great Sunday!

The explanation of hamm and hazn just blew my mind. I’ve known that dua for years and loved it when I read the translation but now it means so much more.
